ARToberfest 2016!

It is time to start fundraising for ARToberfest 2016!
For anyone new to the building, ARToberfest is our own Western Avenue event that replaced Lowell Open Studios (LOS). LOS was a weekend long event where galleries and studios throughout the city of Lowell were open. Participant artists paid around $50 EACH to be part of the event to help towards publicity, printing and promotion costs.

ARToberfest is a two day Open Studios event taking place on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2.

Since it is now an event of just Western Avenue, and it is a weekend long event, we need to do a little extra fundraising among those who want to participate for the weekend. If you are a WASAA member, you are not required to pay anything other than your normal WASAA dues to participate, but we ask that you still think about a donation in order to support this event and its extra costs that go beyond our normal WASAA budget.

Our extra costs for ARToberfest include an extra day of a shuttle, guides for the weekend, extra paid promotions, and printing for the weekend.

There are three levels of donations, each with its own rewards. Payments made by Sept. 1st will receive a door card to hang for Sept. 3rd Open Studios to promote the event for September visitors to return in October.

The deadline for all donations in order to prepare the rewards (printing posters, etc) is September 15th.

Donation Levels:

$20 donation:

Door Card

$50 donation:

Spring Art Thing Update

We are very pleased to report that as of April 8th we have 56 studios participating in the Spring Art Thing promotion!  Calendar and event listings have been sent out to surrounding media outlets (however if you have suggestions for other listings please let us know and we’ll get right on it)!

With the Wearable Art Extravaganza, Loading Dock Gallery events and Spring Art Thing all occurring on the same weekend (and in conjunction with ArtWeek Boston), we anticipate high visitor volume on May 2nd!    It is likely that many visitors will be shopping for graduation or Mother’s Day gifts, so prepare now to have items on hand to fill that need.

Don’t forget that with this Spring Art Thing event we’re asking that you give out a fun artist fact or tip to your visitors (you may do this verbally or provide a little handout).   We’ll be asking our visitors to note  the favorite artist tip or fact they received that day, and the artist receiving the most votes will win a $20 gift certificate to Van Gogh’s Gear Art Supply!

A one page website will be created shortly after the registration deadline (April 15th) and available through a link to the Western Avenue Studios website.   An information package containing your door sign, instructions, stickers and some extra postcards will be distributed to each participating studio one week prior to the event.    In the meantime, please use the Facebook event created to invite friends and family to the event.   Thank you in advance for helping us make this a successful and enjoyable event for both artists and visitors!
